I came upon this article from American Academy of Pediactrics and wondered if anyone had any experience with it. It said "Owning a pet can make children, especially those with chronic illnesses and disabilities, feel better by stimulating physical activity, enhancing their overall attitude, and offering constant companionship."
I had thought of getting a cat for my son because petting would be good for his need for sensory. Then I saw this article and am now thinking this may be a very good idea.

I was talking to my son's aide yesterday about this. She also beleives it is a good idea, and says they also have horse therapy as well. She is going to find out the information for me.

Horse therapy is something i've heard of over here. Apparently horses know that the child needs 'special' care, and will be better for that child than any other people. Like a 6th sense or something.

I have found that most animals have that 6th sense. Another reason a pet would be good for him.

My son Ethan has a cat that lets him do anything he can pat him too hard and the cat will take as much as it can then move away when its had enuf and even if it doesnt want to go outside but ethan wants it to it will it sleeps at his feet on his bed till Ethan is asleep then joins my DH and me lol he comes when Ethan calls him also i took Ethan back to Tolaga Bay to our family farm and put him on our safest horse and the horse responded to the reins (even though i had taken off the bit and it just was a halter with reins) and walked gently and stopped when Ethan lost his balance oh and this was bareback saddles arnt that nessesary i never use one Ethan loved it also he can walk all around and under the horse and Kitchener (my horse) would just stand there and eat food without biting little fingers horses i think really know !

My son Jesse has ADHD and can be bouncing off the walls and I can tell him to go see if his puppy is cold or hungry and he will go get that dog and she will let him wrap her in a blanket and feed her with a bottle and in a matter of seconds he has went from 500mph to 0. That poor pup is gonna be so spoiled but its worth it.
