Atm we have optium puppy food from the supermarket
and we got given a free bag of Hills science diet large breed puppy food and the puppy preschool said that dog roll wasnt that great for dogs and that skye should be on Hills science diet large breed puppy food , i had a look at prices and for a 9kg bag it would be $83 i think if i rember correctly. and the 2.26kg bag was $27.50 i think.
Now im confused on what to give her? like the supermarket dog food is cheaper but is it just as good as the Hills stuff or is that the Hills is a bit better?
Skye likes the Hills science puppy food.

quincy is so little, he hardley eats a thing! he gets some little tiny dog roll, and that only costs 2.50 a week, and that lasts him! and he gets some bones, and he likes to steal cat buscuits as well.
our cats only like chef buscuits, they are fussy.
our g.pigs eat a lot of grass and carotts and pellets.

I put my dog on Advance dog biscuits which is also quite expensive $70 for a 8kg bag for the first 10 months as well as dog roll (certain dog rolls are much better than others so be careful what you buy) Don't buy cheap dog rolls they are full of crap and are no good for your dog.
If you don't want to spend so much on dog biscuits I'm quite sure TUX biscuits will be fine. It's also a good idea to soak the biscuits in trim milk for a few weeks.

Our dogs are all on Royal Canin as they offer the best one for the racing side of things as far as whats in it.
So the Three main racing dogs are on their high performance stuff and then the other two adult dogs are on the lower lever stuff mixed in with whatever we've won recently (currently Eukanuba) and the puppies have just started a little bit of solids and they're on medium breed Royal Canin
We've used many things over the years, Silver started on Eukanuba large puppy (but this doesn't agree with Suka) , we moved over to Ultra K9 while we were in Auckland as we knew the factory owner, then moved down here and they went on the Nutra something-a-rather you get it from supermarkets because it was cheaper and just had a new house and stuff, then we went on to Proplan which is pretty good and then we we moved over to Royal Canin when a racing friend of ours told us about it.

the optuim is a bit more expensive than the tux, its about $12 and they do large breed.

Eukanuka is just as expensive as the other non-supermarket ones. you can see them all at http://www.petpost.co.nz/ thats where we use to get our proplan from

Eukanuba and Hills are pretty much on a par for goodness and price. They are superior in formulation to supermarket brands but if you are prepared to give extra additives where needed then they are fine. I prefer the Eukanuba and that is what I feed my LB dog.
For a LB dog like Skye I would make sure she was given a calcium supplement with supermarket brand foods as they don't contain enough for a growing LB pup

is this the first time registering the dog? Jess is our only one of ours microchipped the others were all registered prior to the new law.
fingers crossed the pups find new homes by 3 months or we'll have to microchip those left
