Kids and pets

I remember when I was a kid, every time we got a new pet I was so excited, then after a while the excitement faded and then interest faded. The excitement of looking after my new pet became a major pain in the butt.

My kids don't have any pets, though lots of my friends and family do. Did anyone else go through this? Do you see the same happening with your kids?

i had a cat when i was a kid. i loved my cat. he was my baby lol. i took care of him and everything. my kids each have a cat and we have three dogs, we live ona farm so there isn't a ton for themto do for their cats. they do change the litter boxes and we all make sure they are fed and watered. they also help out with the dogs, with feeding them. my husband takes care of our horses. i did have a dog when i was really young, but i never took care of him cuz i was to small. and then he was hit by a car.

Yes.We gat Jessica a budgie for her 7th birthday as she "really wanted one".She looked after it for about the 1st week then that was it.Now I do it all.Damb bird.
